Nitro Circus Shirt-off Entry

I submitted the Royal blue option a few minutes ago to the Nitro Circus Shirt-off contest... wish me luck!  I also found changing the shirt colors to be highly entertaining :p  If I make it past the 1st round, I'll let you all know...

Presentation in one week!

December 03, 2011

eleven days.

At this rate I am uncertain I will make it through the last two weeks of school.  I am swimming in a pile of interface design prototypes, thesis presentation materials, and typography publication work.  I believe I have been swimming for about three weeks now, and I would do just about anything to surrender this very minute.  Sometimes I wonder if having piles and piles of work during finals is really beneficial.  Sure we are working "under pressure" or whatnot, but a person can only take so much.  Everyone has their breaking point or time where they turn on the 'I don't care anymore' switch.  I find that switch is far too easy to turn on when one is in a constant state of swimming in something undesirable.  There comes a time where a person has to choose which work he/she will focus on and which portion of work will get swept to the side.  Is it really beneficial?  I believe there is a different format institutions could take in order to receive the best and most potential out of students.  Either way the countdown continues.  Eleven days 'til play.

Go Postal

Below is my packaging project in its current state:

Designing packaging for envelopes was exciting because there are a variety of kinds of envelopes for a variety of purposes.  Traditionally envelope packaging is plain and bland, therefore, with my design I tried to do everything but be plain and bland.  My goal with this project was to focus primarily on the typography while break out of the traditional simple envelope box.  Incorporating both serif (Adobe Garamond) & san-serif (Gotham) typefaces into one cohesive design was also something I desired to accomplish.  Two different kinds of envelopes are featured with this design, one (yellow) is designed for simple white envelopes about 4" x 5".  The second (purple) is designed for 100% recycled envelopes about 4" x 5".  Repetition and color were my main tools I used in creating an electric "postal" theme.  With the recycled version, my motive was to break away from the typical green/brown/neutral color palette and do something more unexpected.

No Winter X Games metal, but a trip to Daytona Beach for Bike Week?

No Winter X Games metal, but a trip to Daytona Beach for Bike Week?  I'll take it!

I recently submitted to the Winter X Games Aspen 2012 Metal Design Contest (http://espn.go.com/action/xgames/story/_/id/7084218/winter-x-games-aspen-2012-medal-design-contest) of which they chose the top 16 (http://espn.go.com/action/xgames/story/_/id/7177791/first-round-voting-winter-x-games-2012-medal-design-contest-started).  Some of the designs are pretty awesome... so cast your vote!  Below was my design I submitted:

No top 16 for me, better luck next time!

This morning I was reviewing my potential class schedule for the SPRING 2012 [!!!!!!] and the thought of Bike Week in Daytona Beach ironically popped into my mind [ ;) ].  And then the excitement began.  Daytona Beach has been pushed back a week (www.motorcycle-usa.com/653/9529/Motorcycle-Article/Bike-Week-2012-Pushed-Back-a-Week.aspx)  While this may be old news to many motorcycle enthusiasts... I AM SO STOKED!  Possibly because I have been dying to go to Daytona Bike Week since I really knew what it was, and kept hinting to my Dad that it would be a great graduation present :D  The only problem has been, is that my spring break always fell the week before.  THEREFORE, this could potentially be the year :) This is presuming that Flat Track will still have their double header event during the new Bike Week dates. (Fingers crossed).  Next step: find a (cheap) hotel that the spring breakers haven't scored yet as well as talk to my Papa about it!

Ecstatic.

Charm City Circulator Bus Headliner

The poor quality of these photos are due to my cell phone, but nevertheless, my graphics for the Inaugural 2011 Baltimore Grand Prix are still in circulation... even if the event did happen a month ago ;)

....trying to stay afloat this semester.  It's a 15 credit one but it feels like it could be 21!  I've been creating some interesting ideas and will post them soon if I can ever catch my breath ;)

Summer Successes

It's official, summer 2011 has come to a close, and I have to admit that it was an eventful one!  I have never been so busy, nor as productive in a summer.  It has been an honor to intern at the Baltimore Grand Prix and to receive graphic design experience within the motorsports industry.  With the race in four days, my time with the BGP is still unfinished, and I look forward to the race weekend.  "My last first day" of college is tomorrow and I could not be any more excited.  This year I will enter into the Thesis world, tackle a student space exhibition, remain at MICA Career Development, and potentially continue working at the Baltimore Grand Prix.  I am anxiously awaiting to see what opportunities I will come upon this upcoming year, for it all could be the start of the rest of my life.  Summer 2011, I bow down to you.

Charity Ball Ticket

Unfortunately the Charity Ball is not happening on September 2nd, and I don't believe this ticket design is being used; however, I still thought it was worthy of posting:)
