LAS Bowhunter's Extravaganza

Each year the Lancaster Archery showroom hosts the Bowhunter's Extravaganza in August. It's one of the biggest sales for LAS and allows archers to get geared up for the hunting season. In Marketing, we design, print, cut, finish all of the sales signage needed for the pro shop. Additionally, we run several print advertisements in local publications. We also design and send out a mailer to LAS customers within a specific radius.

The Extravaganza mailer is 12 page mailer printed in color, front and back that we get printed locally. We have a tall list of products to include in the mailer to get archers excited. When designing, it can be a good challenge to make all of the products fit within the 12 pages in an organized manner. Below is the design I came up with for last year's event.

March Catalogs: Seasonal Content

We've added a new part to some of our print catalogs that features fresh, new seasonal products in a new visual way. The marketing team strategize with the merchandising team to select products that customers are most likely wanting at the time the catalog shows up in their mailbox. For March, the focus included wheel mods and exhaust mods based on previous data. Four pages of this new catalog insert would feature those two categories. For additional pages feature the newest products that have just been released.

For this March catalog, I designed the seasonal content for AmericanMuscle's 2015-2017, 2010-2014, and 2005-2009 publications. The design direction was to focus on new lifestyle imagery of the products so that this content section looks unique to all other pages in the book. To accomplish this, a lot of time was put into sifting through in-house photography and customer submitted product shots. While it took more time than a normal spread, in the end it came together quite nicely.

Below is the 2015-2017 Seasonal Content:

While the design is mostly photography-driven, there were some typographical elements I got to include such as the Wheels messaging, the axle-back vs. cat-back banner and the spring messaging that introduces the new products for March. A few additional product image thumbnails were also added to the layout to better explain and/or display the products.

Below is the 2010-2014 spreads:

Below is the 2005-2009 seasonal content:

All inserts took on a very similar layout with the products and photography varying. The content as a whole has a unique look to it when comparing it to our normal product-heavy catalog pages. Hopefully this new look gets the customers inside the books even more to discover new mods for their Mustangs.

ExtremeTerrain Calendar Back Cover

Similarly to the AmericanMuscle calendar I recently posted about, we designed one full of Jeep photography for ExtremeTerrain. I had less involvement with images for this one but was responsible for designing the back cover. The back cover was to feature imagery that showcased a highly modded Jeep Wrangler featuring Barricade Off-Road parts. I used a photo taken from our in-house photographer, tossed it in Photoshop and worked in Camera Raw. After some editing I added the Barricade Off-Road logo and integrated it with the environmental elements within the photograph. From there I added it to InDesign and added additional copy needed to complete the back cover. Below is the final image.

2017 AmericanMuscle Calendar

Each year AmericanMuscle comes out with a brand new calendar for the upcoming year. The images are a combination of shots taken by our in-house photographers and purchased photographs from other sources. The photos are retouched by the creative department and the graphic design department designs the template and creates the final printed product. This year's front cover was a Photoshop composite by one of the designers, and I retouched, manipulated and designed the back cover image. Below are the three months where I retouched the photos and made the stylized numbers we came up with for the 2017 Calendar. Also included below is the back cover to feature MMD products that involved color changing the car, manipulating the lines on the ground, adding the MMD logo, adding red stripes to the ground and using various camera raw filters within Photoshop.

Additional creative was needed for the campaign to promote the calendar, of which I used the photographs within the calendar to support the promotion. Graphics spanned across the email, social and on-site channels, of which I will share in a future post.

Eighth Annual AmericanMuscle Car Show Program

Today is the day of the Eighth Annual AmericanMuscle Car Show! I am working in several spots today including the Registration, selling Raffle Tickets and clean up. We've been setting up for a few days now and today it'll all be worth it. Below is the event program and a few of the ads I designed to complete it all. The program is a 40 page 5x7" saddle stitched booklet. It contains event highlights, a charity call out page, numerous vendor ads our vendors submitted, an event schedule and several in-house ads.
